Sony just come to announce a brand new tablet in Japan the Xperia Tablet Z. This new tablet is 6.9mm thick and weighs 495g, which makes it the world’s thinnest and lightest 10-inch Android tablet on the market, and even thinner than the Toshiba Excite 10 LE that was once the champion in both fields, and even smaller tablets such as the iPad mini.
The Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch, 1920 x 1200 resolution ‘Reality Display’ powered by Mobile Bravia Engine 2. The design language of the tablet is similar to the recent Sony Xperia handsets, such as the Xperia Z. Also, just like the Xperia Z, the Xperia Tablet Z happens to be dust and water resistant.
Other specs : on the back of the Xperia Tablet Z is an 8 megapixel Exmor R camera with backlit CMOS sensor. Under the hood, the Xperia Tablet Z is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor, refreshed by 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage space expandable with microSD card, NFC, LTE and Sony’s S-Force virtual 3D surround sound technology.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z will be sold in black and white. Right now there’s no word on the pricing and availability.
Oppo’s latest flagship device has been launched in Beijing earlier, the Find 5 comes with pretty much all the top ingredients in the current market — many of which had been teased by the company multiple times already: 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 chip with 2GB RAM, a 2,500mAh battery and Android 4.1.2. There’s also NFC, and on top of that, the Find 5 will come with two NFC tags (remember LG’s Optimus LTE Tag and Sony’s SmartTags?) plus a special version of Sina Weibo that uses the phone’s NFC to let users instantly follow each other.
The 13-megapixel, 5fps camera on the back isn’t just about numbers, as it also packs fast hardware-enabled HDR for both photos and video! Oppo claims it’s the first in the mobile industry to carry this awesome feature. Additionally, the main camera can capture slow motion of up to 120fps, though it isn’t clear whether the resolution is reduced to achieve this. On the other side of the device there’s also a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, which beats most phones these days. Audio-wise the Find 5 features Dirac HD, a technology that’s embraced by the likes of BMW, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Datasat; making Oppo the first mobile phone brand to join the party. The included earphones are fine-tuned for Dirac, naturally.
Alas, much like the Droid DNA, this Chinese superphone also suffers from the lack of microSD expansion, so users may struggle to fully appreciate the 441ppi screen with just 16GB of built-in storage. As for pricing, we already know that the US will offer the Find 5 for $499, and luckily, it’ll just ¥2,998 or about $480 in China, but it’ll be about a month before the phone reaches its various markets, including the US.
Pantech is making a 1080p mobile displays and quad-core S4 Pro processors like they’re going out of style, as Pantech is now rumored to be working on a FullHD smartphone of its own.
Everyone is keen to catch-up to HTC’s DNA smartphone, which was unveiled last month as the first in what will likely be a new wave of smartphones with 1080p screens. With the likes of Samsung, Sony, and LG undoubtedly cooking up a response, several smaller manufacturers have also jumped in with impressive offerings of their own, including the Oppo Find 5 and ZTE Nubia Z5.
Besides the 1080p display of unconfirmed diagonal (5 inch might be a good guess) and quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, the Pantech Vega IM-A860 is expected to feature an Adreno 320 GPU and run on Android 4.1.1. No word yet on how much storage or RAM will be included, as well as what type of battery will power it all.
The Vega IM-A860 is expected to hit retail in early 2013, likely as Pantech’s next flagship smartphone.

With the official announcement of the full HD display sporting, ultra slim Oppo Find 5 smartphone imminent, the Chinese manufacturer has launched a dedicated English language website. This occurrence should hardly catch anyone by surprise given Oppo’s already confirmed ambitions for international success.
The website offers an email sign-up sheet for an Oppo newsletter, as well as dedicated products, press, and forums links. Given the infancy of the webpage though, there isn’t a lot of available content at the moment.
In case you need a refreshment – the upcoming Oppo Find 5 will pack killer specs, which will include a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon S4 chipset, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.1.2. Coupled with a slim body and an attractive commitment-free price tag, the Finder 5 feature set should make it an attractive alternative to the current top shelf Android establishment.
HTC’s Butterfly, the droid with the 5″ 1080p screen, started off in Japan, moved to the US and has now finally gone international. It keeps the same cool specs as the country-specific versions, including the high-res S-LCD3 and the Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset.
