The vice president of Sony Home Entertainment just couldn’t help himself, but tease the masses of PlayStation gamers with the upcoming fourth version of the console.
Hiroshi Sakamoto has hinted of a “big announcement” coming either earlier in May or at the E3 2013 in June. This means that if Sony doesn’t announce anything in May, then we’ll witness both companies debut their next-generation gaming consoles in June at E3 2013.
He also added that Sony “expects to deliver great news”, which are going to be a big step forward in Sony’s console roadmap.Sony’s upcoming gaming console is expected to pack NFC and rely a number of its key feature on it. The next PlayStation is also speculated to feature support for Ultra HD displays.
Sharp has announced in Japan a new Trio of AQUOS Blu-Ray recorders with the BD-W1200 (1TB), BD-W520 (500GB) and BD-S520 (500GB). All three models comes with the same basic features including, DLNA support, Sharp Mobile Phone remote and App Support as well as 3 TV Tuners (two for recording and one for viewing shows) with the exception of the BD-S520 that only come with a single TV Tuner.
But one of the most interesting new update on these new models is Sharp new Thumbnail mode that will create for each show a slideshow of thumbnail helping you to skip a program to the right moment in your show. A nice little add-on that I am sure you will not be able to leave without once used to it.

It’s being reported that Sony is closing Optiarc Inc., its company subsidiary that manufactures optical disc drives for PCs. Officials are quoted as saying that “fierce competition” forced prices down, causing the business to operate at a loss despite controlling roughly 15 percent of the market.
Operations will be wound up by March of next year, with around 400 employees being offered early retirement and others being moved to other parts of the business. Don’t worry about the future of your Blu-Ray and DVD player just yet though, the company will continue to manufacture both as part of its Device Solutions Division.
