The highly anticipated next gen Apple iPhone (weither if it the 5S or 6) continues to make the rounds in the rumor mill. According to the latest rumors the next gen iPhone will feature an improved 2MP front-facing camera.
The report comes from iOSDoc and says the next iPhone will come out with iOS 7 on board and the smartphone will have the ability to record Full HD videos.
Furthermore, the latest version of iOS, which is yet to be announced at the WWDC of this year, will have a new feature called dual-shot, which is quite similar to the dual-camera mode on the LG Optimus G Pro and the one on the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The dual-shot feature allows you to capture images and videos with both front facing camera as well as the backboon camera at the same time. The feature is still in its beta testing phase and is expected to be integrated into the final iOS 7 version as soon as the testing phese is completed.
Unfortunately, the dual-shot feature will be made exclusive for iPhone 5S and will not be available on any older iPhones gen.

Well the next gen iPhone (iPhone 5S) can’t last in dark, and today we have some interesting pictures of what is allegedly a prototype of the next Apple iPhone.
While the pictures aren’t of the best quality or taken in studio conditions they do reveal a lot about the pictured smartphone. For one it sheds off the iconic home button and replaces it with a real edge-to-edge display (although we can’t see the actual screen underneath).
Then there’s the design – it’s sloped towards the edges, which coincides with a patent application from the Cupertino company that was approved last week.
The sketch from the Apple patent application
However, we have to note that this kind of design isn’t typical of Apple. The company tends to favor more squarish designs, which allow it to make full use of the space within the smartphone’s chassis and create more compact devices.
We urge you to take these photos with several pinches of salt as the device pictured above could either be photoshopped or even digitally rendered altogether.
There’s one scenario that might make sense here – what you are seeing could be a prototype on which Apple is working. All major manufacturers consider and test a number of different designs before settling on the final version. It might also be a case specially designed to conceal the look of the Apple iPhone 5S, but that seems too much effort – these dev units are usually simple plastic rectangles.

According to a new report in the Wall Street Journal, the production of a new Apple iPhone will start this quarter. Citing anonymous sources who are familiar with Apple’s plans, the seventh-generation Apple iPhone could have a summer launch. In addition, the Cupertino based company is working with its partners in Asia to develop a low-priced version of its iconic smartphone.
The cheaper model of the Apple iPhone will probably carry a 4 inch display like the Apple iPhone 5, but will use a different casing. Different color shells have been tested, according to the Journal. Neil Mawston, an analyst at research firm Strategy Analytics, says that Apple should take a page from its rival Samsung and introduce more products with less time between releases. Getting back to the next generation Apple iPhone, most analysts expect Apple to make the usual changes that it does with an incremental update. That would mean a new processor and a new camera can be expected with an Apple iPhone 5S. Earlier talk about a fingerprint scanner for the home button has been pretty much forgotten over the last few weeks and a photo allegedly of the home button for the Apple iPhone 5S failed to reveal any such components.
The Apple iPhone is important to Apple because it is its most profitable product. According to Strategy Analytics, Apple controlled 8.6% of global handset shipments, but captured 66% of the profits. On the other hand, Samsung owned 25% of the smartphone market last year, but only 19% of its profits. This gives Apple the leeway to cut prices, sell more devices at a lower margin, and increase its profits.
A published analysis of the future of Apple’s offerings with a device likely called iPhone 5S has produced the idea that the multiple color cases of the iPod touch from 2012 have paved the way for similar offerings in the smartphone segment. This analysis also suggests that Apple will be busting out with another new screen size, this allowing the iPhone 5S to be offered at a higher price than the iPhone 5.
When it comes to analysis like the one we’re about to quote, we’ve always got to warn you, the reader, to get the salt shaker out. Analysis in this vein can be spot-on in some cases, but when it comes to relatively large sweeping changes like the following for a company like Apple, one that essentially always makes incremental changes to their products, we must lower our brows. The first suggestion comes in the way of a number of different casing colors for the iPhone 5S – this is the more believable of the two tips:
- “Our checks indicate that the next iPhone will have more choices for customers. This entails an expansion in both the color patterns and screen sizes with the next iPhone (i.e., likely called the iPhone 5S) that we currently believe will be launched in May/June with certain supply production starting in March/April.” – White
This certainly would make sense given the relatively well-received set of color combinations that the iPhone 5 has been released in. Though they may seem standard to some, a combination of White/Silver and Black/Gray was likely seen as a leap from the Black and White of the iPhone 4S to Apple designers. Because of that fact though, it may just be that Apple pushes more “Official” cases for their smartphones with the next-generation iPhone.
- “Although Apple offers a 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5 and a 3.5-inch screen on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, the Company has never offered multiple screen sizes for a single model. We believe this is about to change with the next iPhone offering different screen sizes that we believe will allow Apple to better bifurcate the market and expand its reach. This eventually opens up the possibility for a lower-priced iPhone (i.e., iPhone mini) with a smaller screen size that could allow Apple to further penetrate markets such as China and open up opportunities in India. At the same time, Apple could unveil a larger screen size compared to the recently updated 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5.” – White
As far as screen sizes go, you should be rather skeptical about Apple releasing another new display resolution so soon after the 4-inches of the iPhone 5. It was a leap for many designers to think about another display size with the iPhone 5 – such is the general atmosphere in the iTunes App Store universe. If Apple released another new display size and resolution in less than a full year after the iPhone 5, there’s be some certain unrest.
When Apple launched the new Lighting connector with the iPhone 5, they immediately made all the existing accessories for iOS devices obsolete (unless you plan on using one of the optional adapters). However, it looks like it’s not going to take take long for accessory makers respond to the change and come out with new accessories designed for the new interface.
Belkin is the first out of the gate with a couple of accessories for your car that are compatible with the Lightning connector. The first is a car charger, that plugs into your car’s power outlet and connects to your iOS device through a Lightning connector. The second one is a Charge + Sync Dock, that doesn’t actually have a Lightning connector of its own but includes an audio jack and you can route your Lightning cable through it.
At $29.99 each, both accessories are considerably expensive for what they do and it would actually be cheaper to buy Apple’s adapters and use your old accessories. It would be best to wait for more manufacturers to release their products before jumping into the Lightning accessory market.
Samsung has just released three new commercials for its flagship Samsung Galaxy S III. Out of the trio of commerecials, only one takes a shot at the Apple iPhone.

By this far, most of you have probably already seen (or not) a leaked snap of what the rumored 7.85″ iPad Mini would look like. And honestly, since the iPhone 5 body leaked from Chinese factories months before the official announcement, I’m willing to took this rumor seriously and give it a bit of a doubt as well.
For those who dosen’t get it. The new iPad Mini looks like as it’s name tells, looks like a minature or compact version of the normal iPad. Earlier rumors have it that the iPad Mini will be announced in October, but until it goes official, we’ll let you with this newest video of the iPad Mini.
