The Nexus 7 is doing pretty well sales-wise, reaching a rate of nearly a million units per month. According to the ASUS CFO David Chang, the slate is bound to do even better in the coming months.
While this definitely counts as a success for both Google and ASUS, the Nexus 7′s sales figures still remain in the shadow of the tablet king in the face of the iPad, which shipped in 14 million units in Q3 of this year.
Still, David Chang remains optimistic and here’s what he told the WSJ.
“At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to one million.”
If anything, the steady sales of the Nexus 7 give Google confidence that its latest addition to the Nexus family, the Samsung-made Nexus 10 will share the fate of its small sibling and become a big hit with its ultra high-resolution display and extremely competitive pricing.

Social network Facebook has officially crossed the milestone of 1 billion active monthly user mark, founder of the social network Facebook – Mark Zuckerberg has shared, a note today on the official Facebook blog celebrating the milestone with a personal thank you to Facebook users. According to Zuckerberg himself the site now has 1 billion active monthly users. That’s right, one in seven people on the planet logs on to the social network at least once a month.
Zuckerberg broke the news originally in a Q&A with Bloomberg Businessweek, also claiming that the site now has 600 million mobile users.

If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.
Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.
I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too.”
Facebook has also shared a number of key metrics with users along with the announcement, including 1.13 trillion Likes since its 2009 launch (note that this is actually probably higher, since the official press document contained a note accidentally left in from an editor about rolling back the number because of info shared previously with Businessweek), 140.3 billion friend connections, 219 billion photos uploaded, 17 billion location-tagged posts and 62.6 million songs played some 22 billion times.
